Rotary Debating celebrates first victory
The first Rotary debate took place on 5 March against Fairbairn College. The junior team (Marté Roux, Rebecca Venter, Chanté Vivier) had to oppose the following motion: This house would ban the sale of unhealthy food in schools. The senior side (Kara Meiring, Christiaan van Schalkwyk, Daniël Louw) opposed the motion: This house believes that the use of conscripted soldiers should constitute a war crime. Jan van Riebeeck managed to win both debates as well as the best speaker awards (Juniors: Chanté Vivier and Seniors: Kara Meiring). All the speakers performed well and are to be congratulated on their achievement.
